First Day of 2015 : New Hair!

To welcome the New Year, I decided to switch things up yesterday. After a much needed haircut, I finally confronted the scissors.  In my own bathroom of course. I am as frugal as the next coupon clipping Mamá,  so I have not gotten a professional haircut since before Aiden was born. Secondly, I have never had my hair dyed at a salon either. There are reasons why I'm called a Hippie, and my hair just goes along with that.

So I did it. I cut it. I cut my long hair! This isn't the first time I cut my own hair, I did the same thing at the beginning of last year, but this time it was different.  I decided to get BANGS. Side bangs, of course. As much of a hippie and tomboy I am, I know that regular bangs would look horrible on my face shape.  I still can't believe it, and I'm still getting used to hair in front of my face. But now, at least I don't look like a complete mess when I put my hair up in a ponytail.

This was not a New Years Resolutions, or a "New Year, New Me" bull. It is simple, I needed a change,  so I went for it. A complete new look to improve my self esteem. Not a "new me," but a BETTER me.

First. I took a before picture. Mind you, this is in my bathroom. Horrible lighting. Then I washed my hair and began cutting. I wasn't sure what kind if look I wanted so I just threw all my ideas away and began cutting. Ahh!

Third, after my hair dried, I dyed my hair with a Madison Reed kit. I chose the color PALERMO BLACK - 3NVV, it has a hint of purple. These kits have been by far my favorite to use. It is nothing compared to the kind you buy at Walgreens. This kit comes with everything. More on that later. Last, I straightened my hair. Remind me, It's time for a new straighter. This bad boy has lived it's course and is on its deathbed. And ta-da! My hair is done! I wasn't sure I liked it, and I definitely made a few mistakes cutting it, but hair grows! That's the beauty! I can experiment as much as I want, because in a few months (yes my hair grows insanely fast), I can try something new.

This color. I loved this color! Hubby wanted me to dye my hair jet black, but been there done that. I went for Palermo Black instead. On Madison Reed, you can put in your hair information and it will match you to your best color. How cool is that?  They then ship you your kit to your door in a beautiful purple box! Inside the box comes everything you need, and what I never thought I needed. Have you ever heard of a barrier cream to keep the dye of your face and ears? It also comes with the gloves, shampoo, conditioner, a cap, and a wipe to take off any dye that got on you in the process.

As someone who has used many hair dyes before, I was surprised that the bottle was enough to cover my whole head. Normally I have to buy 2 boxes because I have a TON of hair, but this wasn't the case. I was so happy! I highly recommend this kit if you have never dyed your hair before, or even if you dye your hair often. This will definitely up your game.
