The other day I came across a great deal on oranges at a local supermarket. I bought 20 oranges for $2.00! I've never seen oranges that low, and I live in Florida!
When I got home I quickly realized, how am I going to eat all these oranges before they go bad? I quickly came up with the idea to make orange juice!
Now you might say, isn't that a lot of orange juice? Well, I am here to tell you why fresh squeezed orange juice is a GOOD idea.
1. It taste fantastic! Drinking a glass of orange juice in the morning is so satisfying.
2. Did you know that those cartons of orange juice that say 100% are actually filled with chemical flavor that do not need to be labeled? This is because that chemical was derived from oranges. Most are filled with fluoride as well. Find more information here.
3. Fresh orange juice is full of antioxidants, enzymes, and minerals that help detoxify your body! All of these are destroyed when orange juice is pasteurized. That is why most orange juice has added vitamin C.
4. Orange juice is a great source of Magnesium. Magnesium is a vital for optimal health but a majority of us don't get enough. Some symptoms of low magnesium are muscle cramps, fatigue, dizziness, and nausea.
5. It is not too much sugar. All that magnesium and potassium help regulate blood sugar and potassium. The potassium helps transform the sugar into energy!
6. It helps your thyroid levels. I have hypothyroidism so this little fact surprised me! Orange juice help make and covert hormone T3. This in facts lowers your stress levels.
7. If you can't afford to buy so many organic oranges, don't fret. Oranges are low on the dirty list. The thick skin helps keep out the toxins.
Tips for great orange juice.
Roll your oranges right before juicing them. This will help break the pulp down to make the most juice.
If you want sweeter orange juice, do not add sugar! Add a date or two and your orange juice into a blender and blend thoroughly.
If you are making a pitcher of orange juice, make sure to add a few drops of lemon juice to make it last longer.
