Carrier Oils : Fractioned Coconut Oil

If you read my post about the Gurin Essential Oil Diffuser,  then you read about having to use a carrier oil for certain essential oils. I have been using the Majestic Pure Fractionated Coconut Oil with my peppermint oil.  Some of you might be wondering, what are carrier oils and how are they different than essential oils? That's why I'm writing this guide! When I first started using Essential Oils, I was completely lost and didn't know the lingo.

Essential Oils: oil distilled from plants, flowers, wood, leaves, and grass.
Carrier Oils : Used to dilute essential oils. Common carrier oils are coconut, olive, vegetable, and avocado. Not all essential oils need a carrier oil.
Diffuser : A device used in aromatherapy to diffuse the oil into the air.

There are so many different types of essential oils and carrier oils, and you use each one depending on what you want to get out of them. Carrier oils are used to dilute the essential oil before applying topically. Coconut oil seems to be a favorite of most of the people I know that use Essential oils because it absorbs into the skin quickly. It also doesn't leave your skin greasy or sticky like other carrier oils. My favorite carrier oil is fractionated Coconut oil, and I will go into why later.

When, why, and how to use Carrier oils.

Use Carrier oil with essential oils before diluting for use with children. Here is a good article about what essential oils are safe at what age.
Use when making scrubs, lotions, soaps, and other topical substances.
Only use 1-2 drops of essential oil per 1 tsp of carrier oil. If using topically, use more carrier oil.
